Lawyer Representing Dog Bite Victims in Kentucky
If You or a Loved-One Has Suffered a Bite
Kentucky is a strict liability state. This means that a dog's owner is automatically liable if the dog bites and causes injury. Unfortunately, dog bites usually happen to children, sometimes toddlers. There are a number of things to do if this happens:
- See a doctor, who will report the bite to the local health department
- Preserve the evidence by taking a picture of the injury
- Contact a lawyer who is experienced in litigating dog and animal bite injuries
With an office in Louisville, Driscoll & Associates represents dog bite victims throughout Kentucky, including Jefferson County. In Kentucky, call 888-558-5910 or contact us online.
Any Dog Can Bite
While certain breeds have notoriety for being more aggressive — pit bulls, German shepherds, Rottweilers, bulldogs — any dog can bite. A dog's owner should have homeowner's or renters' insurance which would cover your medical costs and damages.
I have handled many dog bite cases, and there is no reason this claim cannot be settled promptly. In Louisville and throughout Kentucky, call Will Driscoll at 888-558-5910 or contact us online.
Good to Know
Kentucky law requires that doctors report dog bites or animal attacks to the local health department within 12 hours of rendering treatment.
The doctor must report the dog bite victim's name, age, gender and the precise location in which the bite took place.
If the victim is a child and no medical attention is sought, the law requires the child's parent or guardian to report the bite.
In cases where the victim is an adult who does not seek medical attention, the law requires the victim or a person caring for the victim to make the report.
